Public
outreach

As a social scientist, I am deeply aware of the responsibility that research holds towards society. I therefore actively engage with civil society organisations and regularly contribute to public debates concerning developments in Eastern Europe through media interviews and commentary. I frequently receive inquiries from student associations, academic networks, and journalists seeking insights on democratisation, civil society, protests, and clientelism.

In August 2025, I was invited by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA/EDA - DEZA) to present my research and deliver a keynote speech on ongoing mass protests and the democratisation process in the region.

Furthermore, in October 2025, I received a grant from the City of Zurich to conduct workshops on democracy and political participation (“Naš Glas”) for citizens in Switzerland that speak Bosnian / Croatian / Serbian and/or have connections to the countries of the former Yugoslavias. The Workshops were facilitated during the winter of 2025–2026. These activities not only highlight the broader significance of my work but also provide a strong foundation for the dissemination and outreach of my research beyond an academic audience.
